Planning a
rhinoplasty is something that takes time, for the patient as well as for the
surgeon. The patient has to adapt his agenda to have at least 7 free days to
recover from the intervention, besides going to the checkups, which will be
twice a week for the first month. But perhaps one of the fundamental aspects
will be the financial part, to be able to pay the expenses related to the
surgery.
This point, especially
nowadays, is what slows down patients the most. I tend to get a lot of mail
asking for the price of a rhinoplasty in Madrid (Spain) or in Bogotá
(Colombia).
I always answer
personally, saying that each case is different and that it is honestly
difficult to be able to give a real diagnosis or budget until I have personally
assessed their case at my office.
In regards to this,
it is important for you to know that giving a price for a rhinoplasty without
assessing the case is irresponsibility on the part of the surgeon. Each case is
different, and therefore the price will also be different. Please do not trust
the places that have a fixed price, a rhinoplasty is not a supermarket product
with a price marked on the label...
As I was saying, it
is ideal to see you personally, although on some occasions if the patients
cannot travel, I request them to send some images of their case. This way I
will be able to give them a preliminary diagnosis and a price range of the
rhinoplasty in Madrid (Spain) or Bogotá (Colombia), waiting for the opportunity
to be able to see them in my office personally. This is what I call a “virtual
assessment.”
As an orientation, I
can tell you that the main factors that condition the final cost of a
rhinoplasty in Madrid (Spain) or Bogotá (Colombia) are: the diagnosis, the
patient's history, and above all, the surgeon's experience.
According to this,
the price range of a primary rhinoplasty (first time) in Madrid Spain can be
around 5,000€ and 7,000€ approximately (according to the diagnosis, the clinic
and the surgeon). On the other hand, in Bogotá, Colombia, the prices are somewhat
lower, but the cost of a guaranteed rhinoplasty in Bogotá will be around 2,900
and 4,500 dollars (according to the diagnosis, the clinic and the
surgeon).
The anesthesia, the
hospital fees, and the surgeon's and the anesthetist's fees would be included in
these prices. In my case, I include an additional 5-year guarantee on the
results, besides all the necessary medication in your postoperative and the
logical follow-up of your evolution during the following 5 years.
Keep in mind that a
rhinoplasty is the most difficult surgery in facial plastic surgery. A very
well coordinated team of expert professionals, each one in their field, is
needed; if any of them fails, it will be impossible to obtain good results. The
clinic where the rhinoplasty is performed is also fundamental; the ones that
offer the best safety guarantees are logically more expensive than the ones
that do not.
Think that you are making
a long-term investment; your nose will be with you for the rest of your life,
and for the results to be long-lasting, you should put yourself in the hands of
someone with experience, and this will reflected upon the final cost.
Therefore, I advise
you not to trust those places that have very low prices, or that treat health
care as a product on sale. As far as I am concerned, I do not recommend places
that offer a generic rhinoplasty without the name of a good nose surgeon
supporting the results either. Normally, in these places they treat patients as
numbers, and they usually do not offer much guarantee on the results. Do not trust places that offer a change in
the aspect of your nose without surgery, upfront and for every case, only
injecting artificial substances that eventually just lead to complications.
To summarize, plan
the financial aspect of your surgery ahead of time, do not rush, and if
necessary, save money. It is better than having to go to a place that does not
give you enough guarantees. The results that you obtain will be with you
throughout your entire life, therefore try to choose the best surgeon to
perform your rhinoplasty.
